Cold and Missing: Shy’Kemmia Pate

Episode notes

In 1998, Shy’Kemmia Shy’Rezz Pate, affectionately known as ShyShy, disappeared from her small town of Unadilla, Georgia, sparking a haunting mystery that continues to grip hearts and minds to this day. Despite battling severe health issues at just 8 years old—like asthma, kidney problems, and a displaced kneecap—ShyShy was described as joyful and outgoing, deeply involved in her community and church. On September 4th, after recovering from an asthma attack, she vanished from her front porch while waiting for her sister. The subsequent search, involving local police, the FBI, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, became one of Dooly County's largest efforts. Despite decades passing since her disappearance, her mother Veronica remains steadfast in her belief that ShyShy is alive, advocating tirelessly to bring her daughter home. This tragic case underscores the enduring hope and resilience of a family searching for answers after 25 years.
